My statement on Donald Trump’s felony conviction

Donald Trump has actually committed crimes. The People should stop supporting him, even the people who had a legitimate reason to support him before. We do not elect people who commit massive business fraud. We do not elect felons. We do not elect people found guilty of sexual assault in court.

But, some people say they have to vote for Donald Trump because the Bidens are even worse. That is absolutely untrue. You don’t have to do anything. And it’s not a case of “but both sides do it!” There has not been any evidence or legitimate court case against the Biden family, except for Joe’s son, Hunter, owning a gun after being dishonest about the timeframe when he used prohibited drugs. Ironically, the single crime that conservatives could find to hang on the Bidens is nonviolent gun ownership for the member of the family who is not even involved in politics at all.

There is no comparison between the Donald Trump side and the Joe Biden side. They are not in the same criminal league.

That is a non-partisan point of view, it’s just me being objective. And let me add a supportive, really good point of view, from Colin Cowherd, the famous broadcaster who people claim is a conservative. In the week of the court ruling making Trump a felon, Colin said this:

Donald Trump is now a felon. His campaign chairman was a felon. So is his deputy campaign manager, his personal lawyer, his chief strategist, his National Security Adviser, his Trade Advisor, his Foreign Policy Adviser, his campaign fixer and his company CFO. They’re all felons. Judged by the company you keep. It’s a cabal of convicts.

If everybody in your social circle is a felon, I don’t think it’s rigged. I don’t think the world’s against you. And to get people to agree on anything, 34 counts? 0 for 34? That’s a batting slump even the New York Mets could be impressed with. O for 34. When you’re constantly trying to sell me on an America that I don’t see… Trump’s entire gameplan is ‘The country is in a free fall.’ Maybe in the Trump-centric neighborhoods it is.

And also, remember this about the trial, Trump got a say on picking that jury. It wasn’t Democrats who convicted him. It was 12 random Americans who were grilled and tested to see if they hated or loved Trump and whether they could be unbiased. And somehow they could unanimously agree on 34 counts in a relatively short amount of time.

Denigrating the institutions of American government is Trump’s (and Putin’s) goal. So, hopefully my comments are not taken in a rude light, I don’t hate any American even with pro-Trump viewpoints. I just love America’s institutions, history, Constitution, and way of life, and I want to share a second point of view.

Remember back to those days when we watched animated kids shows about the founding of America. The actual founding of this nation was on the principles of the Constitution, particularly the rule of law and separation of powers.

It was the idea that we were not going to be under a king who answered to no one, a king that did whatever he wanted depending on the situation and the person and didn’t care about laws. It was the idea that the law should decide how the country runs, not a dictator.

Finding a correct ruling in this case and then dropping support for Trump as he’s convicted is a critical test for this country. It’s a test of what it means to be America and a test of the future our fathers and mothers helped usher in.

This is one of the primary reasons I’m running for office. There should be a wave of people standing up for the rule of law and the Constitution, but I see a wave of Republicans in office who will do whatever it takes and backtrack however far it takes to remain in their spots. That’s not the American way, and we need to get back to that great American way.

If you’re interested in more and damning evidence, I wrote a longer article which references dozens of Trump-related court cases and explains what they mean. It’s titled: “Reasons I’m voting for the Democrat for president basically no matter what.”
