My statement on Biden and Harris lowering the price of life-saving drugs
Today, the Whitehouse announced the first 10 Medicare prescription drug price reductions. These are considered “life-saving drugs,” and are prescribed for things like blood cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Most of the drugs will have their prices drop by 50% to 75%.
Medicare drug price negotiation was made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act sponsored by Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Joe Manchin (D-WV).
All Democrats in Congress voted for it, while all Republicans voted against it. Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote as Vice President. Joe Biden signed it into law as President.
This will likely be something Republicans go back to their states to brag about helping pass, just like the Infrastructure bill, but over the last few years, Republicans have voted only for things that help Donald Trump’s campaign, which means voting “no” to everything so Joe Biden won’t get any “credit,” just like when Trump made the Republicans kill their own bipartisan border bill last year.
I believe we need multiple strong parties and for power to switch back and forth, but first, Trumpism needs the final nail in the coffin, because it doesn’t care about anyone but Donald.
