I’m coming in from December 2022 on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The only smartphones I’ve ever used have been iOS devices. I love some Apple things like Apple Card, AirPods, Apple Music, Apple TV+, the App Store, and Apple Watch. But the UX things that were bothersome with iPhone X are still there, and really starting to gnaw on me. Getting to the list of recently used or open apps with that stupid gesture is a top complaint. The gestures on iOS are not good anywhere, and that means the whole experience is destined for mediocrity or worse, because the buttons or secondary navigation paradigms are afterthoughts and poorly designed. I’ve been using the Assistive Touch feature from the Accessibility menu so I don’t have to do the gestures. And, as someone who initially loved Face ID, I really wish we had a button and fingerprint sensor again. Do you think Apple will ever get this right? It would be very hard to switch to Android, but I’d like to, I think.
